Worm Tabs Cat
I can’t get rid of these tapeworms!?

I have 4 (indoor ONLY) cats and about a month ago I noticed that they all had tapeworms! So I bought “Tape Worm Tabs” from 1-800-PetMeds.com and it worked great! But now about every week I will find a tapeworm on one of my cats. I have boughten about 4 containers of the tapeworm stuff and they go away but then come back. All of my cats are on Advantage too so this is getting so expensive. I don’t know what is wrong! I need help!

I’m NOT a fan of 1-800-petmeds… but the “Tape Worm Tabs” are the same as Droncit- both the same strength of praziquantel.

Fecal sample is best for all other intestinal prasaites- but the chances of getting a tapeworm segment in the sample are low. I trust that you know what you’re seeing. Save the segments you find in a little jar or baggie so you can have your vet analyze them. They might not be tapeworms. The Advantage will prevent new roundworm infections but stronger meds are needinf to treat an existing infection.

Clean clean clean- clean litter boxes and vacumm 2-3x daily while treating the cats- or the eggs could be lying around the house ready to infect them. Also- fleas carry tapeworms so make sure that isn’t an issue.

Make sure the cats are getting the pills- and not spitting them out. All it takes is one sneaky cat and they’ll all keep the tapeworms. Weigh each cat to get the correct dose. Treat once, then again in 2 weeks. If they’re still around after that- you’re going to need a different medication from the vet based on fecal samples. Praziquantal ONLY treats tapeworms.

Good luck ;)
