Tree House Scratcher

Certain woods poisonous to cats?
I want to make some natural looking cat scratchers and trees for my cats with wood that we found on a plot being clear-cut for construction. One has that distinctive christmas tree smell and I am still trying to identify the other two before letting my cat-kids near them. Does anyone know any good sites for tree identification and also what types of tree bark/wood is poisonous? I have looked at the aspca toxic plant list but it tends to be predominantley house or garden plants and not trees. Any help would be great…thanks!
Pine is fine for your cats, as for the rest, all I could find was this….

the
Black Locust is definitely a no-no.
Read through this as well

Good luck!
