Scratching Post Tower

Has anybody used Emery Cat?
My cat’s claws are just super sharp. He does use his scratching post, cat tower, and I’ve seen him scratching the bark on trees in my yard a couple times. I would like to get his claws a bit less sharp without trimming them. If anybody has any experience with this product let me know. Also, is it possible to buy replacements for the actual board without buying a new base as well?
Okay, that’s great for you that your vet trims for free, but if you read my question all the way through, I am trying to avoid trimming my cats claws.
Search it more on the internet. I was going to get one till I read all the horror stories. Some cats have gotten their nails caught in it and ripped out. So there is no way I will buy one now after reading the stories about it. Sounded good at first but not now. Be careful of what you buy.
