Safety Collar

How do I get my cat to wear a collar?
When i first got my cat he was only 12 weeks so the collar was too big for him to wear, but now that he is nearly 1yr old i want to get him to wear one for safety reasons. I have tried putting one on him and he jumps around and scratches his neck like crazy!
PLZ HELP
He is an indoor cat and has a microchip…I just taught in case he got out of the house and someone found him it would be easier to get him back
your cat is just going to have to get used to it. have you tried one with and without a bell? Also make it’s a safety collar that breaks off in case he were to get stuck on something, the collar will break free and will not choke him.
