Pottery Cat
whats the cheapest and easiest way to sort the lawn out in my back garden? its approx 5 x 12 metres and burnt?

past tenants had bonfires out there and the grass dont exist and the soil is full of broken glass pottery and cr*p! got 2 kids, 2 cats (kittens due soon too!) and a puppy staffie so REALLY need to sort the garden out asap! HELP any advise welcome as i want to put a pool out for the kids in summer and enjoy the garden

Hire a professional or get ready for some sweat. Rent a roto-tiller from a local hardware store. Get some 10-10-10 with minerals granular fert, some peat moss, and a heavy rake.
Run the roto-tiller at a setting of three to four inches at least
three times (wear heavy boots as this is messy). Use the heavy rake to remove the debris that is on top. Add the Peat Moss at a bag per 1,000 sq ft and spread the fert at the same rate. Till this mixture into the soil at a two inch depth.
You can seed or sod. Sod cost roughly three times the seeding. Purchase only Certified Seed Mixtures available at a Nursery. Do Not Buy a Contractor or Annual Seed Mixture. These are weeds. Make sure you can water the turf for the entire season.
With kids, buy a combination of Rye and Fine Fescue with a bit of Bluegrasses in it. Heavy on the Rye and Fine Fescue. Use the 10-10-10 with mineral as a fertilizer every three months and water the turf after application. Topseed every three months at 2lbs per 1,000sq, foot with a cyclone type spreader (great in winter for rock salt, calcium, etc.).
For the cats make a bed of Pure Granular Gypsum in the back corner. Plant Catnip or Lemon Grass near the rear and sides. This will make them go to that place. Gypsum is a natural ingred. and will not harm anyone. Hope it helps.
