Pet Tent Carrier
Taking small dog camping/to a beach with me?

I am buying my dog a ‘hard’ dog carrier for the trip down to the camp.

We are sleeping in a tent, I don’t know it that is safe for a dog, so I was going to buy him this carrier thingy (link below), and put ice cubes and a small amount of dog food in dog bowls and some toys. Is that good? Or should I do something else? He will be outside, with another dog, (not ours) but there are deer and raccoons, so I am not sure. Please help!

i have brought my small dog camping lots of times … sleeping in a tent is fine, your dog might be awake more due to the new sounds and smells the first night … why would you put him in a carrier, and if you mean overnight, bad idea about the food … bears will then be attracted to your site, or other animals … keep the food locked up in your car or trunk when you are not there and overnight, and never keep food in your tent … deer and raccoons will stay away from people and dogs so not a worry … i went camping once and by accident left the tupperware of kibble on the picnic table … and a raccoon was making off with it … i woke my friend up and told him to go and get the kibble because we didn’t have more and he was too afraid so i had to do it myself … i just got out of the tent and told the raccoon to get outa here and grabbed the tupperware and put it away … i would suggest a nice long extendi-leash as most campsites have leash rules but there is never a limit on how long the leash can be … you can leave water out when you are in the campsite but i would put it up when you aren’t here, the same as the food, because you don’t want to attract animals … if your dog normally sleeps with you, sleeping in a tent is no problem at all …if your dog normally sleeps in a crate then put the crate in the tent … i have camped where there are lots of bears and lots of wild animals and with the exception of the raccoon trying to make off with the tupperware of kibble in 20 years i have never had a problem camping with my small dogs :O)
