The litter kwitter?
i have a 5 month old ragdoll kitten and i have just bought a litter kwitter for it to teach it to use a normal toilet. He can already jump up onto the toilet and balance himself on the seat, the litter kwitter uses a series of plastic discs that you put onto the rim of the loo,the cat uses the first like a conventional litter tray, once its used to using this you use the next disc which has a small whole in the center of it, so the cats wee and poo goes through the whole but it still had a wide rim to balance on. Once it can do that you use the next disc, this has a bigger whole in it and a narrower rim, the cat carries on like this untill all the discs have been used and removed, and hey presto the cat can use the toilet the same way as humans do…and no before anyone asks they dont learn to wipe and flush aswell. Has anyone else used this method and how did they get on.
Hi there!
I’m sorry I haven’t used that product but your question makes me want to look into it. But even without having used it myself, let me say that you have a higher chance of this succeeding wonderfully as Ragdolls are just that smart and trainable!
My Ragdoll is 9 now and set in his ways but I wonder how it would have gone if I had tried to toilet train him. For all I know it may still be possible. After all, he learned to fetch faster than most dogs and walks on a leash as though it were natural for him. I’ve never heard of a dog being toilet trained but that’s most likely because they simply don’t have the right balance and agility for it. That said, Ragdolls can do just about anything dogs can and do it better!
Er… they may also be able to do some human-like things too, like turn a door knob which my boy learned to do all on his own.
You’ve got one very special kitty there who will continue to amaze you and love you no matter what as their capacity for affection and loyalty rivals or exceeds that of dogs.
The way you’ve described the Litter Kwitter sounds like a very intelligent and logical design. I would bet a large sum of money on your kitty graduating from this training with flying colors! I invite you to email me and let me know how it goes.
Cheers!
