Kitten Flea
How long do I have to wait after giving a kitten advantage (flea treatment) before I can give it a bath?

The kitten is a rescue and was abandoned by his mother way too early. He wasn’t cleaned properly as a baby and still has matts of mud and because of digestive problems there’s poop stuck to the back of his legs. He needs to be washed because he hasn’t figured out how to groom himself. He isn’t just a regular store-bought kitten. He was seriously about to die. So please don’t judge. I’m saving him :)

Hi there,

I don’t understand why you want to bathe your kitten after using advantage flea treatment, unless your kitten has had a bad reaction to the product, and then an emergency call to your vet is in order, not a bath.
Consult with your vet or a veterinary ER immediately.

But if you are just asking about bathing your kitten just to bathe her, and not for the reason above, the more you bathe your kitten the less effective is the flea prevention. Kittens and cats hardly need to be bathed in the first place, because they keep themselves very clean. The only reason for bathing a cat, is in case they have gotten into something stinky or into a major dirty situation.

Here is an article from a vet’s web site that includes the suggestion that pets not be bathed after being treated, but bathed a couple of days prior to treatment if a bath is necessary.
