Harness Bungee Leash

come with me kitty harness and bungee leash?
My siamese cat went missing for 3 weeks,so now I’ve made him an indoor cat. he acts like sometimes he wants to go outside. So,if I bought one of those “come with me kitty” harness and bungee leash sets,are they any good? could he get loose from it? I don’t want to lose my cat again,but I want to let him go outside. What is better the come with me kitty harness or just a regular cat harness? thank you!
My cat was an outdoor cat for a long time, but then he moved from the country to the city and got declawed. (All before he became my pet.) Now he’s an inside only pet, but he misses the grass and trees.
Like you I thought I’d try to leash train the cat… what a mistake! The poor cat just lies on the floor as soon as the harness is on. I’ve tried different brands and styles, he just doesn’t like the strap around his chest. He won’t get up and walk around, he won’t respond to a (gentle) tug on the leash, he just lies there.
My vet said that it can be hard to leash train an adult cat. They don’t like to be controlled like that. You might want to get an inexpensive harness first and let kitty wear it around the house. If he seems to adjust to the harness at that point you might consider a fancy one.
Instead of leash training I now let the cat out on the fenced in porch, or in the back yard with me – but I have to keep a close eye on him. You can also find a playpen for a cat online and at some of the bigger pet stores. Some you can even rig up to a kitty door so he can come and go as he pleases – but only as far as the cat playpen allows. Those options might work better for you.
