Feliway Plug
feliway cat difuser to help cats settle in new home?

Has anyone ever used the above product to help your cat when moving house. Apparently it releases pheremones (?) similar to the cats when plugged in, helping them to feel at home in the new house. Just brought one from the vets (for £25.00!) and was wondering if anyone had experience of them? Did they work etc

I used this when my cat (ex-rescue and very feral) moved in. He developed a skin allergy and was always scratching himself as he was so nervous/bored etc.

I personally didn’t notice any change (he had to have further steroid jabs to stop him from scratching, but obviously that isn’t what I’d suggest in your situation!).

What did help him was having a place to hide. Whether it was behind the TV, on a chair under the table etc, as that made him feel safe. He liked warmth, tasty snacks, playtime (moving string), gentle fuss etc- I think these are the things that took away the stress of being in a new home.

It may be worth checking the ‘litter’ situation. The cat I have mentioned wasn’t litter trained and it took ages to train him. My new cat WAS litter trained, but unfamiliar with the location of the litter tray, so it took about a week for him to get used to where it was.

Good luck with your kitties! :)
