Are paint fumes harmful to cats?

My house got painted inside today and my mom kept my cats in their playpen/cage is what I call it. Anyway so there in the room, its not that big and its not that small next to a slighty open backdoor window. They’re surrounded by 4 walls of paint. I told my mom that it might be toxic to them but she said all people keep there cats in the room when they paint. I suggested I take them in the room i’m in, since it wasent painted, and the windows wide open. But she said they would still smell it.

it’s never a good idea to put anything in a freshly painted room, especially with poor ventilation. remove them from the room and put them in the room you’re in.

and ps i do not keep my cats in the room when i paint
