Cat thyroid med ? Once per day?
My cat was recently diagnose with hyperactive thyroid and put on the standard med (Tapizole) twice a day. I just called for results of bloodwork and they said it was .2 (low) but I’d have to wait for vet to get out of surgery to call. They said he’d likely lower the dose. My question. The twice a day med is very difficult. Do you think if I asked if he could get meds once per day the vet might say yes. Rather than a smaller dose twice a day. We love our cat, but twice a day is getting difficult .. we do it, but must have neighbor in twice a day if we go away… does anyone here medicate once per day?
Dosages are complicated things. You may be able to do that (or he may just do it anyways), but itsn’t as simple as getting x mg in a day. It may not be a big deal with this medication, but listen to what the vet says when you call. They may need to spread it out over time. I would trust that the vet wouldn’t give bad meds, but don’t try and force the issue if they reccomend that you keep it twice a day. Don’t double up on the meds on your own.
