Cat Litter Pan

My cat will use the litter pan to pee in but he will not poo in it?
The pan is kept clean all the time but he poos in the same spot all the time I even bought another litter pan and put it were he poos all the time and he still will not use it both pan are always clean . Help Please he is very healthy and active cat about 6 years old

A good rule of thumb on litter boxes is that you should have as many litter boxes as cats + 1 litter box. I have two cats that use the same litter box for pooing and peeing, but my mother’s cats are really finiky.
They have 6 litter boxes and 4 cats and all but 1 of them has a box they pee in and a seperate one they poo in.
They vet can also help, they have “kitty xanax” that is perscribed for issues like this and also there are these air freshener things that release a cat hormone that calms them and helps them be more normal.
Also if he has just started this habit something has changed and he probably needs to go see the vet. Most cats will not show when they are in pain or danger until it is really bad, because it is their instinct not to show weakness for fear of being attacked by another animal.
Also my mother’s old simease cat gets dehydrated easily because she is so small and fragile and she will not use her litter box when she is not hydrated.
