How much would the cost of a cat/kitten cost?
To buy the kitten, accessories, replacement accessories, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, microchipping, etc etc? In £, tah. Probably depends on if the cat is a rescue, kitten, pedigree or whatever. But yeah. :] xox
When I adopted my latest cat from a rescue organization they had me sign a form that verified I was in a position to care for my new pet financially. I believe they suggested having $2000 available for emergencies. I know this sounds like a lot, but it’s sound advice. My friend’s cat got into lily pollen and had to be hospitalized. Just 2 days cost $600 dollars. My cat had horrible periodontal disease and had most of her teeth removed, which cost almost $400 (she was only 4, so it wasn’t a case of neglect). This is in addition to the $100 I had just paid for her annual checkup/shots. I had my other cat’s teeth cleaned just to be sure that she didn’t get the same disease, this cost me $150, in addition to the $100 for her annual vet care.
I guess I’m trying to convey that problems do occur and they can be quite costly. I never once hesitated to pay the $150 for preventative dental care and my friends knew they had to take care of the emergency even though it cost $600. If you’re not in a position to do this, then you should wait until your financial situation is better.
Just look at all the people on here who ask for advice but state they can’t see the vet. That’s neglect. Please don’t be one of those people.
