Biting Cat?
I have a cat who used to be really sweet, just a rag doll and a cuddler. Well, I moved in with my sister, who has pet hamsters and guinea pigs, so I had to find a new home for the cat. My boyfriend, who has a Min-Pin dog, agreed to take her.
When she first came home he used to sic the dog at her. For all I know he still does it when I’m not around. Now she has a nervous disposition, is shy about cuddling, and tries to bite when I pet her.
How can I stop her from biting?
He’s actually very sweet to the cat, now. It was just a problem when I first left her with him. We’ll be moving in together soon and I’ll be able to bond with the kitty more.
Usually a cats mother will scruff a cat if it does something the mother doesn’t agree with. I works quite well. Next time she bites, gently scruff the extra skin behind her neck and firmly say “NO”. They won’t know what “NO” means, but by your tone and gesture they will conditioned to not bite. Before you know it just the sound of “NO” will be associated with them knowing not to do certain things. Make sure to scruff when she bites though.
