Cat Bowl Dish

How do you prevent a cat from climbing in/standing in the water bowl?
We have a 7 month old kitten who loves to climb into her water dish, and sometimes stands there for no apparent reason. We often come home and find water tracked all over. This is a problem because when she uses her cat litter with wet paws it clumps and becomes stuck between her footpads and tangled in her fur to the point where we have to cut the clumps out with scissors. We thought about changing to a non-clumping cat litter, but are afraid our two cats wouldn’t use it.
First try a smaller bowl, so she doesn’t have room to get her feet into it. If that doesn’t work, the raised stands might work….and I’m sure you can find some that aren’t as expensive as the ones online.
I use a stainless steel “bird” bowl for one of the water sources for my cats. It’s about 4″ across, and has to be filled quite often, but unless your cat knocks it over, it should work for you. If you can figure out a way to “fasten” it to something..(similar to the door of a carrier )…she couldn’t knock it over.
