Can I use a Rubbermaid container to make an outdoor cat house?
I have a 30 gallon Rubbermaid container with a hinged lid on the top. I plan to cut an entrance at the bottom of the container and several horizontal slits just under the lid for ventilation. I like the idea of just lifting the lid to change his food and bedding. Will this house provide enough warmth and ventilation? Also should I use newspaper or something under his pet bed for added warmth?
Why do you have a cat if you make it stay outside all the time?
The container will trap heat in during the summer and will not provide any warmth in the winter so if you want a dead cat then go right ahead. Also, snakes and other wild animal will probably be attracted to it since it’s enclosed and dark inside.
Or how about you find the cat a home that will actually let it inside.
