Cat Tunnel Condo
What is the best cat toy?

What is the best cast toy that your cat/kitten likes, plays with often, and is safe.

I’ve adopted a kitten, and have so far acquired: a one-story cat-condo (scratching post hide-away) and one of those cat tunnels that are covered in a cloth, and the inside is crinkly…

My cats are easily pleased. Crinkled paper or tin foil amuses them. They like to get into my knitting yarn – I once came home to my house set in a complicated trap from yarn being twisted around chairs and tables. Paper bags are great fun, as are pens (with caps on and supervision, of course). Really, anything that makes noise, slides, or provides a hiding place is great fun to them. I’ve also gotten toys at the pet store – I don’t get fake mice because a lot of them are made out of rabbit fur and we have a rabbit…we’re silly and deter them from making enemies with the rabbit that way. My one cat adores the Blitz TurboScratcher (I’m including link under sources for Petsmart, but a lot of these you can find in any pet store). They love the wands with the long feathers, streamers, or fabric scraps at the end. They also love bouncy balls (heck, get them for 25c out of a machine at the market) or balls with bells or rattles inside that make noise. With one of the balls that has holes in the sides (and a bell inside), I used a crochet hook and tied yarn through the openings so it added streamers – they loved that. One of the cats loves ping pong balls – we bounce them down the stairs and he chases and bats them around. They also have little stuffed toys (they do have a stuffed mouse) that they carry around and play with.
