Worms in my cat- but are they round or tape?!?
I can tell my cat def. has worms- but she has mixed symptoms of both roundworms and tapeworms:
-irritated anus,but no ‘grains’ or ’seasame seeds’ anywhere; not in her bedding/fecaes/anus
-licking of the anus
-loss of appetite
-diarrhoea that she cant seem to control,keeps leaking blobs of her poo
-third eye is visible;eyelids
-restless
-fur/coat seems fine
-she rubbed her bottom on the couch once
-I saw a white-ish slimy thing coming out of her anus but wasnt sure whether to pull it out?!-looked it up and sounds like roundworm,but didnt get a chance to see whether it was moving..
-Isn’t using her litterbox, instead is jumping onto the bathroom sink and going there
-No potbelly
As you can see,she has symptoms for both tape and roundworms-can she have both?I’ve treated her for roundworms but how long will it take to work?
I also contacted the vet via phone but I can’t get there anytime soon!

Hi,
If your cat is an indoor cat it is unlikely to be round worms, but sinse it has diarrhea it is quite likely to be round worms, if your cat vomits then it probably is round worm, check in your cats vomit or poo to see which type of worm it is, if the worm is quite small then it is probably a round worm. If your cat has fleas then it is most likely tape worms because the fleas eat tapeworm eggs which your cat may then eat as she cleans herself.
In your case it sounds like tape worms but you should probably check her poo or vomit first.
